My New England Coastal Adventure

My New England Coastal Adventure

I’m backkkk!

I’ve only been home from my latest trip for a little over a week and I am still swooning over the experience. New England presents such a different atmosphere, captivating landscapes, never seen before sunrises and sunsets, and of course, the people…lordy! New Englanders – where is my eye rollin’ emoji when I need one? 😀

This adventure was one for the books. I learned a great deal about myself, covered A LOT of ground, and found that my Type A personality was slowly flying out the window as I drove. For the first time ever on a solo-trip, I didn’t have a plan (besides the wedding and my time in MA). I had no clue where I was going to stop, not where I was going to go or even stay. It was absolutely exhilarating! I may have been spoiled on my last 5 trips, with others planning them, and I think I got used to not planning. So for this New England coastal adventure, I simply traveled and explored wherever my heart desire. ❤

When I originally planned this trip, I had hopes to visit MA, CT, VT, NH and ME. Make a whole NE state tour. But when I started mapping it all out, I quickly decided CT and VT were out! I did a lot of driving in Ireland  and I really was looking for a more relaxing adventure this time. So, the itinerary soon just became MA, NH and ME – and boy, did I cover a lot in my 10-day trip!

Because the spontaneity of my trip, I stopped in some small towns among the way. But I don’t plan on writing a post on those short term visits – I only plan to write about the main stops. There’s so much to share and I wouldn’t want to overwhelm you!

I’m sure yall are wondering what the layout of my trip ended up looking like. Check it out below!!

Massachusetts

Most of my stay in MA was set – visit a high school friend, go whale watching and make it to the wedding. Because I was in MA for more than a few days, I have some good stories and great experiences to share. Stay tuned to posts later this week.

New Hampshire

NH was the perfect dose of refuel medicine I had been looking for. Thanks to a close business contact, I had a lovely waterfront condo to call home for a few days. It was also the place where I learned to appreciate LOBSTAH again!

Maine

Maine was about the time where I realized I had no real plan. I only knew I wanted to make it to Bar Harbor and stay in the secluded hut. So, with my Type A out the window, I stopped wherever my heart desired on the way up to BH. I didn’t spend too much time in some of the stops, but enough to take in the fresh air and beautiful sights. Can’t wait to go back, actually – but you aren’t surprised, are you? I just love the thrill of an adventure and exploring!

Oguanquit: I stopped here based on a recommendation from A. She said it was a cute, little beach town – and she was 110% correct. Because I was only in town for 30 minutes, I’m not the best to tell you what’s good or what there is to see. But I did walk around the beach, put my toes in the water, and stopped in a few shops. Quick taste of the town before moving on!

Kennebunkport: Home of the Bush family. No one really gave me a recommendation to stop here, but had talked about it before leaving. So off the highway, I crossed three lanes of traffic and decided to stop in. I parked and simply walked the quaint streets and shops. After hitting the jackpot on gifts, I jumped back into the car and was off to Deer Isle. (I was in Kb for an hour at best!)

Deer Isle: Coming soon!

Bar HarborComing soon!

Portland: Goodness, I may be in love with Portland without actually seeing the whole city. I had planned to stop on my original trip up the coast, but figured I would have more time on the way back down. Not completely true 😕 I had time enough to stop at two bakeries and pee! Portland looked like such an amazing town, with its own sense of identity…which is why I’ll be going back up sooner than expected. Time to fully explore next time!

Over the next few days days, I will be posting separate posts about the major stops on my adventure. Stay tuned and hope you enjoy these WICKED GOOD locations! 🎉
