Hi y’all, my name is Katie!
I’m a native born and raised in the state for lovers (Virginia, in case you were wondering). I am educated and currently have a full-time job for a pretty well-known non-profit organization. I went away for college and couldn’t wait to get back to NoVA. That is where I got my Master’s degree and have stayed ever since. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to run and get out every chance I get.
Over the last three years or so, I have taken up solo-traveling in order to find myself…and overcome the constant fear of missing out. You know, FOMO? It started off as a New Year’s “word”- I don’t do resolutions- and it soon became more of a lifestyle. I’ve be on a quest of wandering and wondering.
To date, I mainly have done domestic travel, but looking to expand my travel goals in the next few days, months and years to come. As far as the wondering side of me, it is always on the go. I wonder about almost everything! I have seen a great deal of evil and experienced just as much trauma in my life that I have a different way of thinking and wondering about the world. I use my solo-travel to reflect and find meaning to the ways of growth, passion and movement forward.
There are many things that I have learned about life and myself over my years of solo-travel. First, push yourself outside your comfort zone because it will be okay in the end…no matter what. Second, do what makes you happy. And finally, in the wise words of Dr. Seuss, “be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind”.
